Vibra was established in 2013 with the intention to promote and present contemporary dance in Slovenia and to offer intensive workshops and research programs for young professional dancers in the field of contemporary dance. For the past 7 years the Ljubljana-based Vibra has been hosting acclaimed dance makers- choreographers, dancers, teachers, theoreticians, bringing an injection of dance and creativity into Slovenia’s capital. In the last week of August, young dancers from Slovenia and abroad come together to collaborate, learn, get to know each other, and network. In the festival’s evening program, the wider audience have the chance to see performances by acclaimed domestic and international choreographers and get to know young and upcoming dance makers at the Open showing.

Free educational programs (dance theory lectures, mentoring projects) have always been an integral part of Vibra. In 2019 however, the festival started offering scholarship programs for young dancers. The scholarships are supported by the City of Ljubljana. 17 young professional dancers from all over Europe, chosen from over 70 scholarship applicants, received scholarships for Vibra 2019 intense choreographic laboratory and workshop program.

In the past 7 years Vibra has been hosting artists such as Guy Nader, Lali Ayguadé, Peter Jasko, Clara Furey, Milan Tomášik, Nikolina Pristaš/BadCo, Athanasia Kannelopolou, Petra Hraščanec, Leja Jurišić, Natalia Pieczuro, Andreja Kopač, Kjara Starič, Dušan Teropšič, Gaj Žmavc, Tetiana Svetlichna, Lukas Zuschlag among others.
